Oban Bay House occupies a commanding position as the highest house on Pulpit Hill with outstanding views over Oban Bay, and the Firth of Lorne to the islands of Mull, Lismore and Kerrera. The house has been designed to be a complete home from home, providing luxury accommodation for 11-13 in comfort.
There are two separate sitting rooms, both with TV, DVD and Sky and a games room with pool table, table tennis, toys, books, games and DVDs to keep all ages amused. The games room and the larger sitting room also have open fires.
Oban is well-known as the “Gateway to the Isles”. The Caledonian MacBrayne ferry terminal provides regular day-trips (or longer stays) to the islands of the Inner Hebrides such as Mull (and Iona), Coll, Tiree, Lismore, Kerrera and Colonsay plus some of the Outer Hebrides including Barra & South Uist. Oban is arguably the centre for the west coast sailing scene, and it also retains a large fishing fleet. The house is a five minute drive from the ferry terminal – ideal for day trips to many of the islands. Oban (“little bay” in Gaelic) provides a wide range of services. The town boasts many shops, sporting and transport facilities. Restaurants, cafes and bars abound, many with live bands and ceilidhs.
The sunset over Oban bay is often spectacular, a kaleidoscope of soft, subtle violets and purple giving way to vibrant, fiery reds fading slowly to a gentle burnt orange as the sun reflects off the sea before slowly dipping below the island hills. The house is ideally situated to enjoy this spectacle, when the weather is kind from the garden or inside, warmed by the open fire when colder.
The kitchen and dining room have everything you need to entertain a large family group including crockery and cutlery for toddlers.
There are two separate sitting rooms, both with TV, DVD and Sky and a games room with pool table, table tennis, toys, books, games and DVDs to keep all ages amused. The games room and the larger sitting room also have open fires.
As it sometimes rains in Scotland the utility room has two drying racks (in addition to a washing machine and tumble dryer) and there is also a large boot room and some spare childrens waterproofs and wellies. There are also two cloakrooms.
Outside there is a large jungle gym for children with swings, a slide and climbing wall and a smaller slide and play house for younger children. The garden is ideal for children to play in, with a wonderful rhododendron 'grotto' to explore and both gates can be locked. There is also a barbeque, picnic tables and a sheltered patio area.
There are five double bedrooms - three with zip-link beds and one single bedroom. Two z-beds and two cots are available and will fit easily into most of the bedrooms. There are two large bathrooms, both with separate shower and one shower room.
For parents with small children, in addition to cots, we provide: high chairs (2) booster seats, toilet seat, steps to the sinks, bed guard, steriliser, baby monitor, bouncy seat, play pen, fire guard and child sized towels. The stairs are fitted with custom made gates and two additional gates are available.

Oban stands unchallenged as the capital of the western seaboard of Scotland. It was a late starter, existing only as a small fishing and trading village until the steamer ships of the Victorian era started arriving in great numbers. It became the main point of departure for the Western Isles and a regular stopping-off point for the steamers linking Inverness with Glasgow via the Caledonian and Crinan canals. The arrival of the railway in 1880 confirmed its growing status.
Oban (meaning “little bay” in Gaelic) provides a comprehensive range of services. The town boasts a wide variety of shops, sporting and transport facilities. Restaurants, cafes and bars abound, many with live bands and ceilidhs and for the energetic. Swimming and other sports can be enjoyed at the Atlantis Leisure Centre. Oban is a stunning place to visit and for the sea kayaker it has access to one of the most amazing sea kayaking venues in the world, the West Coast of Scotland.
