Husthwaite House is a historic, picturesque North Yorkshire manor. Built in 1308 and mentioned in the Doomsday Book, this most attractive holiday cottage is full of character with many original features, including inglenook fireplaces, oak beams and an authentic 16th century bread oven.
The house is set in unspoilt countryside on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and just a short walk from the village with its shop, pub and C12th church. The farm's 110 acres of fields, hedgerows, lanes, woods, ponds and stream provide opportunities for wildlife watching, coarse fishing, walking or simply enjoying wonderful views.
This is an ideal base for walking, cycling and touring North Yorkshire's countless attractions; within half an hour's drive of York, Harrogate, world of James Herriot at Thirsk, Castle Howard, Beningbourgh Hall, Byland and Rievaulx Abbeys and many other National Trust sites.
The house is beautifully appointed and equipped to an extremely high standard with quality furnishings and close attention to detail.
The dining kitchen is fully equipped with every modern convenience including range style cooker, microwave, large larder fridge, American fridge/freezer with icemaker, automatic washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing facilities and CD radio. In the sitting room there is an inglenook fireplace for blazing log fires, a 36" colour TV with Video & DVD player. There is also a piano for your enjoyment. The Library has books for every taste and a collection of indoor games for lazy days or a cosy evening by the fire. There is direct dial in/out phone and wireless broadband connection in the study
There are 5 bedrooms, 3 en suite doubles and 2 twins. All bed linen and towels are included. Heating, electricity and logs are also included in the tariff so you just need to turn up!
The property is set in beautiful mature and secluded grounds where children can play safely. There is ample garden furniture for al fresco meals, barbecue and garden games equipment (croquet, boules etc) are provided. There is also ample parking. All our guests are welcome to explore our 110 acre farm to enjoy the abundant wildlife and magnificent views towards the Cleveland Hills and over the Vale of York to the Pennines.

Our 110 acre farm has some lovely walks, either on farm lanes or around the fields. From the top fields there are views of the village, the Pennines and the Hambleton Hills, with the White Horse of Kilburn. The wide range of habitats within the farm - woodland, stream, hedgerows and fields of low input arable crops encourage lots of wildlife.
The house is fronted by sunny secluded gardens designed as a series of 'rooms', where there is room to play croquet, boules and badminton. A large table is provided for al fresco meals. There is a rose garden designed as a walk through the history of roses, and the herb garden will provide fresh herbs for the kitchen or bath. The orchard contains old varieties of apple, pear and plum. This is the home ground of ‘the ladies’ – rare breed hens who are good recyclers of left-overs, and three of whom lay naturally blue eggs.
The village is only a couple of fields away and has a shop and a pub with good food and beer. There is a multi use games area with a tennis court in the village which is situated very conveniently at the end of the drive, 200 yards away.
This is wonderful country for cycling and riding - bring your own mounts or hire them locally. We can provide storage or stabling.
