Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB) there are many follies on the skyline created by the local eccentric Mad Jack Fuller in the 18th-century. The picturesque village of Burwash, once renowned for its smuggling connections, is only 1.5 miles away and hence the skull and crossbones on some of the gravestones in the churchyard. The village marks the northern boundary of 1066 Country being 8 miles from Senlac Field and close-by is Batemans, once home to the author Rudyard Kipling (N.T.)
The nearest major towns are Royal Tunbridge Wells to the North and Hastings and the sea to the South. Several gardens including Sheffield Park, Wakehurst Place and Merrimans are a short drive away. There are good connections to London from Etchingham Station, 5 miles away. There are several pubs and restaurants nearby and the owner will supply full details.
