Sandstone Manor is a truly delightful, classic country house with views  across the stunning Scottish Borders countryside, yet only 26 miles from Edinburgh. This wonderful Baronial style country house, was once the former home of the Gladstone Family made famous by Prime Minister William Gladstone. Set in 10 acres of grounds the beautifully furnished home has a classic country house feel with a modern twist. The estate provides elegant surroundings with all the luxury and comfort of a stately home.

9 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms provide an ideal luxury retreat for family gatherings, weddings, parties and business dinners. A butler and housekeeper are available on request.

Previously the house was a country house hotel so all electrical facilities including piping hot water all day ensures the first class standard that is expected from a luxury country house. From the road the impressive entrance gates, a sweeping drive leads up to the house and the fully enclosed grounds, laid out to manicured lawn, woodland and paddock with stable.

9 beautifully decorated bedrooms with 9 bathrooms; fully equipped 36 ft kitchen with large dining table for informal meals. The aga, gas hob and smeg oven with log burning stove provide a warm cosy environment on those snowy days. Relaxing family room with Sky TV, DVD, large elegant formal lounge with open fire. The formal dining room comfortably sits up to 10 with open fire and stunning views over the Hartree Hills. An additional dining room with minstral gallery seats 20. The large gravelled drive can also be used for a marquee for even larger events.

The 10 acre private estate provides a chance to relax and unwind in a beautiful country setting, strolling around the grounds, playing croquet on the lawn or just having an open air BBQ and glass of champagne overlooking the fine views. The full size billiard room and music room with a full set of drum kit and piano will entertain children for hours.

The estate enjoys a superb rural position with fine southerly views. There are many walks in the area and the nearby Tweed cycleway, which follows the course of the river to Berwick, commences at Biggar. The market town of Biggar has a wide range of local shops, recreational facilities, schools and restaurants. There are also several golf courses within easy reach.

Despite its peaceful location, it is well placed for easy access to the M74 and routes to the South and North and the A702 to Edinburgh. Edinburgh is only 26 miles away (half an hour drive) Glasgow 32 miles, Peebles 17 miles.

Local activities include: Riding and pony trekking. Historic border towns such as Peebles. Scottish Textiles Museum. New Lanark. Fishing on Tweed and tributaries. Cycle the Tweed cycleway. Many golf courses. Edinburgh 26 miles.

Whether it is a corporate, business or pleasure dining experience the meal will be tailored to you and your guests specific needs.

If you wish our butler and staff can be at your disposal to provide dinner and drinks service throughout the evening. You will also be served a fantastic traditional Scottish cooked breakfast for you and your guests the next morning. Prices start from £250 per person per night including dinner bed and breakfast.- minimum of 8 guests. All the luxury of a beautiful country house with your own staff to cater to all your needs.

- Security deposit: £500. This is paid prior to arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.

- Arrival time: 4pm onwards.

- It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property.

(THE BUTLER) who really did help make the weekend, his manners were impeccable and the service we got from him from the moment we arrived until we left was absolutely spot on. I have never been force fed so much bacon, eggs, blackpudding, haggis, beans and it goes on, in my life. We went to bed fairly late with Isaac still serving us drinks, and woke up to a clean house and the smell of breakfast and coffee. He was always suitably dressed, with a smile on his face and helped out with anything we needed, a thoroughly nice chap and great at his job." "The house completely exceeded our expectations in terms of both size (inside and out) and the quality of the decor and furnishings. Our jaws dropped when we stepped into the kitchen and then into each room. And what views! The gallery, the floors - amazing. The pictures on the internet just don't do the inside justice. You've taken such care to keep it looking like a home, with all your amazing pictures and niknaks and beautiful cushions, nice towels and toiletries and having Sky and a DVD was great too.
