Large country house rental in Devon. 19th Century country house, situated in the unspoilt Devon countryside, nestled between Exmoor and Dartmoor. The Chulmleigh Manor, set in 5 acres of landscaped gardens and 20 acres of river meadows, has been totally refurbished and offers 12 stylish bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms. It sleeps up to 22 adults, and is able to provide additional accommodation for children or staff.

Chulmleigh Manor is the perfect place for house parties, celebrations, family get togethers, or for those looking for a relaxing retreat.

The house is in two parts. The main part has a ground floor with two very large reception and dining areas and a lounging TV (cinema style) room to relax in. There is also a large farmhouse style kitchen with ancilliary rooms and the dining room that seats 24. All have large windows, mostly double aspect, allowing in the south facing sun and light.

The two floors above contain 9 double bedrooms and 8 en suite bathrooms. The courtyard area houses another bedroom and bathroom, a special loft style split level living room, 2 bedrooms with 2 en suite shower rooms and an outdoor bath on the deck. Additionally the courtyard contains a large spectacular room (11m x 6m) that can be used for functions, conferences, dance, yoga and table tennis. The adjoining room is a huge but restful snooker room (full size table), library and flat screen TV.

The house sits comfortably in 5 acres of gardens and pastures with uninterrupted views across a valley of woods and river towards distant Dartmoor. Immediately around the house are formal gardens that were laid out in Victorian times, with enclosed garden areas within the whole. To the west is a private sunken salt water swimming pool set amongst tropical plants, while on a lower terrace is a tennis court of green artificial grass surrounded by a hundred Rhododendron bushes. The south facing terraces are built from fossilised limestone from Malta, but underneath is a very English Victorian garden grotto. A lawn for croquet, an orchard for apples, a vegetable garden for fresh produce all add up to the quintessential English country garden.

Facilities include an outdoor heated salt water pool, jet-stream hot tub, infra red sauna, yoga and dance room, TVs and DVDs in most of the rooms, grass tennis court, snooker room, croquet lawn and extensive gardens. Wi-fi is available throughout.

The house is located at the edge the village of Chulmleigh in Devon.

Local activities include: Yoga, personal fitness sessions, massage, one on one art lessons, local fishing, clay shooting, biking, hiking and horse riding.

Any amount catering can be easily arranged upon request. Please enquire for further information.

We are able to provide a home cooked meal for the evening of your arrival. An example of this would be a choice of casseroles and fresh garden salad. We would lay up the utensils in the kitchen so that on your arrival all you need to do is relax and enjoy your meal.

We are pleased to supply complimentary tea, coffee, milk, butter & GI Bread for your use until you get to the shops. Please advise us in advance if you require any extra shopping.

For the remainder of your stay we are also able to provide a three course fully serviced evening dinner menu. The cost of this service for up to 24 people will be from £22.00 to £38.00 per person.

We are also able to provide lunches. An example of this would be organic salads, homemade soup & bread, cheese, crackers & fruit.

We are licensed for ceremonies in a variety of settings such as the romantic Victorian garden grotto or there is a beautiful Norman village church nearby.

Our period barn will seat up to 75 guests and we can arrange a marquee for up to 150 people, that sits perfectly on the croquet lawn, approached through lavender and jasmine filled gardesns. Or we can organise an intimate private dining experience for up to 40 relatives and friends in our elegant period dining room. Food and wine is handled by experienced caterers with whom you can discuss your requirements.

Prices
Exclusive hire for a 3 night wedding party is £6500 for up to 22 guests. Up to 50 guests is £7500. Up to 100 is £8000. Up to 150 is £8500. A higher security deposit will be required depending on the size of the wedding.

- Security deposit: £1000. This is paid prior to arrival and will be refunded in full after departure subject to damage inspection.
- Linen & towels: All linen and bath towels are included in the rental price.
- Energy costs: Included in the rental price.
- End of stay cleaning: Included. Please leave the property in the state that you found it.
- Arrival time: 4pm onwards.
- Departure time: 10am.
